Appeal Characteristics:
The story is often fun and fast paced. The details on where and how she grew up are very interesting and her recounting of her married life and career are entertaining and touching. The way it is presented you almost feel like you are listening to Loretta tell you her stories in person.

Read-alikes: Still Woman Enough by Loretta Lynn with Patsi Bale Cox picks up where Coal Miner's Daughter left off and is written in Loretta's "voice" as well. Van Lear Rose is her most recent album and several of the tracks are autobiographical, including one where she tells the story of her how she received her first pair of shoes. Patsy: the Life and Times of Patsy Cline is another country music biography. Patsy Cline was a close friend to Loretta Lynn and they toured together in the early year's of Loretta's career. Dolly: My life and Other Unfinished Business is the autobiography of Dolly Parton. Dolly has a similar upbringing to Loretta and holds a similar amount of esteem in the musical community. Finding Her Voice: Women in Country Music, 1800- 2000 by Mary A. Bufwack and Robert K. Oermann is history of woman in country music. It gives an overview of the woman in the country music industry and their impact.
