Connors expects a rough-and-tumble man when he hires a mercenary, not the dark and mysterious beautiful woman he finds in Ray. Appeal Characteristics:
This novel is both a conventional romance (a perfect man pursues the heroine) and also an erotic novel – the sex is steamily depicted in descriptive language. A reader seeking a novel where the sex is not shrouded in euphemisms will like Foster’s frankness. Also, Ray Vereker is certainly no shrinking violet; she is a strong woman who can take car of herself, yet also has suppressed needs for a partner. Romance fans wanting a different sort of heroine – one rough and tough – will be drawn to Ray Vereker.
