Plot Summary:
Chloe Chisolm is a successful web site developer who loves the dating scene. When she meets Rocco in an elevator after a blind-date-gone-bad, the two spark an instant, heated attraction. The heat increases to fury when later that week, she sees him at an art show with a beautiful blond who is clearly not his sister. Although he tells her he isn’t seeing anyone else, Chloe struggles with her feelings toward a man to whom her attraction is immeasurable, while her gut and her friends tell her to dump him. Readers looking for action will not be disappointed in this fast-paced novel. The main character encounters her future romantic partner in the first chapter (and enjoys him in the third). The prose contains a perfect balance of dialogue and description which moves the story along quickly. The plot unfolds in chronologically, and each chapter ends slightly unresolved, encouraging the reader to continue reading. The focus is primarily the strong female main character, and information about minor characters enhances the reader’s understanding of her. While told mostly in third-person narration, occasionally the reader is in the main character’s head, hearing her thoughts. The reader is meant to identify with the main character and her romance with a secondary character. Minor characters are diverse and also appealing. The story line is realistic and emphasizes both the characters as well as the events they encounter. The story is set in a large, mid-west town, which provides a setting attractive to big-city and small-city readers. This comical love story has a satisfying ending and will be enjoyed by readers looking for a steamy romance.
