In "The Channel," she falls in love with her guide and the lifestyle they possess. SPOILER: In order to get out of signing the divorce papers, Nora must stay in "The Channel" indefinitely until Jeff makes a terrible mistake that will allow her to keep her home and her dignity. But in order for her to stay, she had to make a promise to "The Channel" administrator who will call upon this favor in order to retire.

Geographical Setting: Unknown, presumbably the U.S.
Time Period: Contemporary 2005

Appeal Characteristics:
Nora is a quiet, happy homemaker turned wanton sex goddess in the bedroom. This characteristic, the silent but sexy type, might appeal to some romance readers. Nora also evolves from the quiet, happy homemaker type to a strong and independent woman, which might delight some readers Because this book relies heavily on technology (being able to have sex with someone who only exists in your television), fans of Futuristic romance might enjoy this characteristic. There is very detailed, very graphic sex scenes all throughout the book which may appeal to some readers.

Read-alikes: Author Bertrice Small has many other books in the Erotica genre which might be a good choice for read-alikes. This book was nominated for the 2004 Best Erotic Romance and Erotica from Romantic Times, so readers might enjoy other books from the Romantic times list. Readers who enjoyed the science fiction/fantasy or the self-discovery elements of this book might enjoy Fetish by Sherri L. King. Aerin Peters is drawn into Fetish, an exotic escort club/resort that will change the way she sees herself. Those who like the torrid sex might enjoy Awaken, My Love by Robin Schone. Elaine is transported back into time and brought back to life by a Tantric lover. Emma Holly's All U Can Eat is a contemporary romance with a murder plot. When Frankie's boyfriend leaves her and there's a murder behind her restaurant, only police chief Jack West can help in the investigation. Readers might also enjoy Mad About Max by Lisa Plumely which tel ls the story of Lucy and Max, the bohemian and the business man, who can't stay away from each other.

Red Flags: Martital infidelity, profanity, and graphic sex.
